During this project we needed to use our programming skills to create a creative game. In order to accomplish the gaming we needed to use a program of our choosing. Since the whole project was focused on probability we needed to incorporate it into our game. Throughout the process we were expected to learn about probability. When I first began this project I was stumped, I knew the coding but I didn’t think that I would be able to make a game using the knowledge I knew. I have done a couple of prior coding but with the help of instructions telling me what to click and where to find the codes. I started to think of games that I could base my game off of and thought of candy land. I went off of what I knew about the coding and decided to play around with the codes. Since I wasn’t too experienced with the programming I decided to look at my prior programs to get an idea of what I should use to create my game. I decided to start with making my characters and then starting the look of how it will all look and the controls. Throughout this process we needed to keep up to date by turning in benchmarks. These benchmarks were important to keep our teacher up to date with how far along the “finish” line we are and to give critique. It was also important for us to write down a clear description of what we were going to do in the end to have a clear description to follow. The game that I came up with is called, “Can You Make it to the Other End of the Galaxy?” In the game you are a spaceship trying to get to the other side of the board. There is a dice given and you need to follow the number that you roll. You will come across obstacles such as numbers on the dice, there are numbers that you wouldn’t want to land on. Those numbers are, 5: if you land on this number you will need to click the “setup” button and return to where you started, 0: you may not move and continue to roll again, -1, -2, -3: you will need to go back if you land on any of these negative numbers. Now that I have finished the game I am obsessed with it, sometimes I start playing with it and it just captures my attention. I believe I have done a good job with all of it, I am proud of myself and the creation that came about. I did have challenges such as putting myself down and telling myself that I couldn’t do it, and finding the codes, I would just click all the tabs until I had found the correct one. But I persevered and created a fantastic game and came up with a snazzy name to really go along with it.
