Immigrants Come to the U.S.A. Hoping For A Better Life
Do you ever wonder who picks the crops you buy at your local grocery store? Are you interested in knowing who picks your groceries? Most importantly why? There have been some Americans complaining about immigrants taking jobs from the U.S. citizens and they want to kick them out. The immigrants hope to make a better life for themselves and their families in the U.S. There is also an issue of safety in their home country. Undocumented immigrants should be able to stay because they help by taking the jobs natives don't want, they want a chance for a better life and get away from the violence in their counties.
Undocumented immigrants should stay because they help pick crops. For example, in the documentary, “La Cosecha”, they picked crops and helped out the farmers. The immigrants show that they are determined to work, they take ahold of a job that a native would unlikely take. By them being capable of working, the crops at the grocery store are priced less than if a U.S. citizen was working. This is because the immigrants are not U.S. citizens, which means that the farmers are not compelled to pay the immigrants minimum wage. Therefore one can clearly state, that the undocumented immigrants should stay because they benefit the economy and themselves by making money for their families.
In addition to immigrants picking crops so they can make money they should also come to the U.S. to live a better life for themselves. For example, while watching the documentary, “Which Way Home”, the two young boys named Kevin, fourteen years old and Fito, thirteen years old, left home to Los Angeles to earn money for their families. This happens a lot, by this I mean the children feel the need to help their parents with making money. Since they can’t work in their country, either because they are too young or because there aren’t any available jobs, so they cross the border. They come to the U.S. with the hopes and dreams to work. The immigrants believe that it is worth risking their lives by trusting a coyote, by climbing on the roof of the train, and by walking through the desert for a better chance of a better life. One can clearly see that the undocumented immigrants come to live a better life and to have a better future for their families and themselves.
Undocumented immigrants come to the U.S. for their safety. For example, while listening to the guest speakers from the (Out of School Youth) OSY program, they mentioned that most immigrants come to the U.S. for safety. They talked about how there are gangs and violence in the countries of the immigrants. The article, “Child Migrants Settle Uneasily In The Big Easy about a thirteen year old boy named Yashua. Yashua lived with his uncle in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He talked about how there are gangs everywhere and that the police is not to be trusted. The fact that the police is not to be trusted is a scary thought. The police is usually thought to be a safe team to be able to call when emergency help is needed. Also the fact that the people are not reassured to be safe in their own homes is an overwhelming and nervousing thought. Thus, the undocumented immigrants should come to the states for their safety and their families well being.
Undocumented immigrants should be able to stay because they help by taking jobs the natives don't want, they get a chance for a better life and they get away from violence in their countries. A better chance, because everyone deserves a better chance. Therefore, the same people that risk their lives to get to the U.S. by crossing the border are the same people that help the economy and the same people that are having trouble in their own country because of how it is not safe. In final analysis, next time you buy your groceries just remember that there are people working hard picking them.
